Abbie Davies creates paintings that address consumer culture, fashion labels, food branding, social media memes and advertisements.
Starting with digital images, the artworks are adaptations of late capitalistic scenes made by resin varnish to diminish signs of painterly gesture. Davies' 'packaged paintings' create a unique feeling of looking at the artwork like a product itself/ commodity.
The combination of renaissance still life backgrounds, 21st century elements and patinated colours of advertisement campaigns creates a contemporary story-tale into the mass glorified junk that we consume daily.
